Been going to this restaurant for 15 years, since Carlos himself owned the place.  Some things have changed: new owner, new staff, new open large dining room (instead of two small rooms).  Some things have stayed the same:  BYOB, good service, good food.
This evening had Shrimp and Chorizo appetizer $10.95, Burrito San Diego - with shrimp, mushrooms, squash $18.95, and Enchiladas with shrimp and cheese $17.95 (for 2, costs $14.95 for one).
No room for dessert.  Left full and happy.

Can't say enough good things about the food in this place. However...why on earth did you change your decor? Just to squeeze more patrons inside? Half the allure of eating there was the decor! It was so warm and inviting. You felt like you were on vacation without needing to leave the area.
Now the ambiance is much more "cafeteria". Bring back the fun decor and cozy atmosphere and I bet you'll see a much higher return! Squeezing people in there to make a buck was definitely the wrong route.
This is why I'll continue to order take out versus sitting in there now. As well as not recommend friends/family to go out to eat here for a meal. Total shame.

Leaving my rating at 4 stars for large portions and outstanding service, but my chicken fajita was extremely bland as opposed to the last time when it was delicious.   Also, same can be said of the bland Caesar dressing on the salad.

Will definitely try again , especially when going to the Basie Theater, but need more pizazz next time.

Excellent atmosphere , great service. Warm and homey. Good Mexican food. Nachos weren't fabulous but good and the guacamole was great. Salsa was out of this world!
Sampler platter was also great. Byo.bought a nice bottle  2 doors down.  Will definitely be back. Loved the food and the vibe!

    Awful.
The chicken Fajita, was drenched with taco seasoning. The black beans had funky taste to them.
French fries were frozen and dropped into deep frier.
    Salsa Tasted like ketchup.
    Kitchen nightmare level.
